There’s no doubt that Paradame is a flesh, blood, and bone human being like the rest of us. However, when she sings and raps, it’s as if she transforms into a warrior priestess who wears dub for a suit of armor. Further displays of rhythmic weaponry can be witnessed on her new album Ion Cannon, boasting an arsenal of 21 tracks that tie together hip-hop and electronic properties. A product of the consistently fertile garden that is the Seattle music scene, Paradame, along with producer/creative partner J. Lee, build a symbiotic relationship within the music; always able to match moods between words and notes. With 21 tracks sprawling over the course of 71 minutes, hopefully a generation of music lovers more used to singles than albums will invest the time needed to check out this incredible album. Even if you find yourself full halfway through, you anticipate the moment when you’re ready to come back for more.
