Lefty Spitswick
You will be hard-pressed to find a more appropriate name for an emcee other than Lefty Spitswick (which is short for Lefty Spits Wicked), because this emcee literally spits some of the most wicked rhymes you will ever hear. An amazing lyricist and creative writer, Lefty Spitswick is a diabolical force in the Seattle hip-hop scene- and they don’t even know it yet. As one of the newest members of AudioDose, he is on his way to being a standout performer and recording artist. Even more impressive then one of his verses is Lefty’s story. Punk turned rapper. Headbanger turned hip-hop innovator.
As a kid growing up in the South Seattle neighborhood Skyway, Lefty mainly listened to metal and hardcore rock music. You could say he was a rebel, so much so that he ran away from home on his 13th birthday while his mother was out getting his cake. This was the shape of things to come, for Lefty would later become more free-thinking and risk-taking as an emcee. Through the rest of his teen years Lefty couch-surfed and skipped school altogether, only to wake up in a trailer one day while experiencing a hip-hop revelation. He wanted to rap.
He began freestyling with fellow rappers Siccness and Mar2, and soon became part of a crew called Asylum, who released the EP State Hospital in 2006. Lefty linked up with MC Faust in ’07 and featured heavily on Faust’s debut album Block Philosophy. It was during this time that Lefty discovered Ground Zero Studios and befriended the rest of the AD crew. It immediately became apparent that Lefty Spitswick had unparalleled free-styling skills, and it came as no surprise that he won the Battle in Space freestyle competition in ’09. As he featured on more and more Audiodose tracks and performances, it was only natural that he became part of the family and was signed to the label. Since then Lefty has finished a yet to be released collaboration with Sicksteen and the rest of the Audiodose crew, and has formed a new group with Paradame and J.Lee called Illenium Fulcrum.
Lefty Spitswick is yet another perfect piece in the puzzle that is Audiodose. He has proven himself to be an unbelievably talented writer with a unique cadence, a one-of-a-kind voice, and an unmatched intellect.
